Few Reasons Why Pests Are Traumatic For Kids

Pests can be traumatic to anyone not only kids. But in the case of kids, a threatening imaginary image of a pest is formed and hence fear generates. Few kids, on the other hand, are very bold and they have a weird habit of collecting certain pests without knowing the consequences. They feed them with bare hands and eat their food from the same which can cause very deadly diseases.

Let’s go through certain points explaining why pests can be traumatic for kids:

No or Insufficient Knowledge

Most of the kids across the world are not aware of pests and their consequences. They are not given sufficient knowledge on what can a pest do if mishandled or misjudged. Most of the parents and schools are themselves not aware of pest-related information which should be somehow included in today’s science textbooks.

Not only what a common pest can do, but also what preventive measures can you take upon bitten by such pests.

Weird Habits

Kids normally have habits that are not inclined towards cleanliness or hygiene. Few of them have some weird habits of collecting certain pests without knowing any aftermath. Infants have a habit of sucking their fingers or putting anything from the ground in to their mouth. This habit can prove very deadly if not looked at with seriousness.

When kids lick the ground or put their toys in the mouth directly, there is a much stronger probability of pest defecation or vomit going straight into their bodies. This could get very traumatic!

Lack of Understanding

If your kids have a habit of collecting certain pests and keeping these pests with them in their rooms, understand one thing that they will never take any of your valuable advice seriously. You will need to show your understanding and then find out certain ways to teach them what precautions need to be taken alongside.

As parents, it is our responsibility to understand our kids and talk to them in their language so they know what could be the aftermath if things go in the opposite direction.

Disease Carriers

Kids get very upset when they fall ill. Most of the diseases kids suffer from come from outside food or playgrounds due to food contamination and insect bites respectively. They know now they will be given a lot of restrictions to follow if things take a very bad shape. Hence, they start getting traumatized upon seeing even the most common pests.

This trauma comes due to the diseases the pests carry and ingest in kids through some or the other ways. Once the kids are aware of this through little knowledge, they can easily get over their fear.

Scary Physical Appearance

Most of the kids are extremely scared of pests or insects due to their creepy physical appearance. Kids find these creatures scary due to their antennas, long hairy-legs, creepy structures and a thin deadly moustache with a sting attached. All this is enough for them to be extremely scared of certain pests.

The parents too, at times, instill some kind of fear in them upon seeing certain pests. Most of the pests and insects give kids goosebumps.

Intensified Sensation

Kids are very sensitive when it comes to pain. A strong bite or sting from any pest is enough to hear a loud shriek by them. Once they get strongly bitten by even a mosquito, they get traumatized with its presence. Many kids can intensify the sensation by feeling the touch of pests over their bodies. This makes them create a very threatening image of pests in their minds. As a parent, it is your duty to draw a certain line between fear and precaution.

Kids are very emotional and when it comes to pests or anything related to pests, they start inculcating fear in their hearts the moment anything goes wrong.
