Protect Your Home From Summer Weather: Top Tips

Don’t you hate it when you feel like you’re being cooked alive in your own home?

Well, don’t worry because this article is here to help turn things around!

In some parts of the US, temperatures reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer. That heat is uncomfortable, and it also spoils the exciting summer spirit.

But there is some good news. There are ways to beat the summer weather and live in a pleasant home climate. All you need to know is how to protect your home from the extreme heat?

How do you do so?

Keep reading to find out!

Stop the Sun From Getting In

The heat from the sun can easily bypass your windows. So it’s important to block it out and put up a barrier to stop the sun from getting in.

Your first wall of defense starts with your blinds. They block out the sun and keep the room at a cool temperature. You should always do this with any windows that face north and west.

Make sure no heat gets through the blinds. And layer your windows with curtains, the second layer of protection.

Spend More Time Outdoors

Along the Mediterranean, people spend most of their time outside. Even when you take a vacation, you don’t sit indoors all day long. To get the most out of the weather, you need to invest in your backyard.

Nobody wants to be stuck cooking in a kitchen that’s baking hot. So purchase a BBQ and move your kitchen outside!

You can also create an outdoor lounge area with outdoor tables, chairs, and sofas. Don’t forget to put up an umbrella for shelter. According to JAMA Dermatology, even a basic handheld one can block 75% of UV rays.

Welcome Fresh Air Into Your Home

The easiest way to do so is by simply opening doors and windows. This way, it may only take four changes per hour to change the air in your home. And it can take as little as 15 minutes!

Ceiling fans are another great way to help cool airflow throughout your home. If you have them at home, make sure they’re spinning counter-clockwise. That allows the fan to push cool air around your home and extracts moisture from the air.

Air Condition Maintenance

AC is your best friend during the summer period. You might be able to escape the heat during the day by sitting outside, but you can’t sleep out there.

High temperatures affect your sleep. That can lead to reduced immune system function, high blood pressure, and depression.

So make sure you have air conditioning AND that it’s still working. This service will repair, install and take care of all your needs.

Enjoy the Summer Weather

The summer weather can be overwhelming if you don’t prepare your home. But now you know how to keep a room cool and tips on how to overcome the extreme heat.

So clear your schedule, and start getting to work now, before the summer kicks in!
