5 Signs You Need An Emergency Electrician

Your home’s electrical system is one thing you don’t want to take any chances with. While some issues you may be able to put off and not end up having severe problems, the same isn’t true with electricity. Electrical problems cause 51,000 fires every year.

If you’re experiencing electrical issues in your home, it’s critical to know when to call an emergency electrician. Below are five times it pays to call an electrician for help.

1. Tripping Circuit Breaker

A circuit breaker trip now and again probably isn’t a big deal. It’s usually because you run too much power to a breaker. All you need to do is reduce the load, and you’ll be fine.

However, it’s a problem if your breaker trips constantly. When this happens, it’s a sign that there’s something wrong with your breaker. These problems can be severe and require electrical work to resolve.

2. Burning Smell

There should be no smell with electricity equipment when everything is working right. Everything gets insulated, so there should be no odor coming from equipment or wires.

But that doesn’t mean you’ll never experience smells. They usually happen when your wires and electronics are burning. Burning can lead to sparking and fires, so contact a 24 emergency electrician to investigate the issue immediately.

3. Hot Outlets

Power outlets are designed to be cool. You aren’t supposed to feel any heat when you reach over and plug something in. If you feel any heat from an outlet, it’s a sign that something isn’t right.

Typically, this is a sign of a wiring issue with the outlet. The current isn’t flowing like it’s supposed to and is causing the outlet to heat up. You can contact an electrician like the ones at sunelectrician.com to fix your outlet’s problem.

4. Sparks When Plugging in Appliances

A random shock here and there when plugging something in isn’t a big deal. This spark happens when electric conductors are close to each other. A tiny spark occurs when they touch.

However, those sparks shouldn’t be large. If you see large sparks when plugging something in or at other times, you have a severe issue. These sparks point to overloaded circuits or an incorrect installation.

5. Water Damage

You don’t only have to worry about furniture damage when you have a water leak. If your leak gets into your walls and wiring, it can damage your electrical system.

If you experience one of these leaks, call a 24 electrician as soon as possible. You want to ensure there was no damage to your electrical wiring and outlets. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a fire hazard.

Make Sure You Understand When You Need an Emergency Electrician

While not every electrical issue is an emergency, some stand above the risk. You can’t afford to ignore needed electrical work go for too long and end up with a more severe issue. Call an emergency electrician if you experience any of the issues above to make your home safe again.
